Mailing List

THIS website is maintaining a mailing list -- called "politics-list" -- to encourage discussion about women participation in politics and governance. For those not familiar with a mailing list, it is simply the automated distribution of e-mails to those who subscribe to this service. For instance, if you send an e-mail to politics-list@kababaihan.org, it will automatically be distributed to all those who enlisted in this mailing list.

Instructions

• To subscribe to the list, send mail to politics-list-request@kababaihan.org and type "subscribe" (without the quotes) at the Subject prompt. Leave the body of the message blank. To unsubscribe, send mail to the same address, but type "unsubscribe" instead at the Subject prompt.

• To send mails to the list, address your e-mails to politics-list@kababaihan.org.

• To reply to the sender of the message, hit your mailer program's "Reply" button. To send replies to the list and to the sender, use your mailer's "Reply to All" button.

General Rules and Guidelines

• No off-topic messages. This mailing list is dedicated to the discussion of women in politics and governance, as well as general issues relating to women. Please limit discussion to these issues. If a thread will lead to discussions not relevant to this list, please communicate privately.

• No obscenities, flames or inflammatory remarks. As in anywhere, be courteous. Be nice. "Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you."

• Avoid excessive quoting. When you quote someone else's mail in responding to this list, please avoid quoting the entire message. Select only relevant sentences or paragraphs to quote. It's a waste of bandwidth. We have a bandwidth quota in this server; beyond that, we will have to pay extra. Besides, like water and other finite resources on earth, bandwidth is scarce. Help conserve it.

• Keep your automated signatures reasonably short. Long signatures also consume additional bandwidth. Thus, keep it short. Limit it to four lines only.

• No file attachments. File attachments may be okay if you send an e-mail to someone, but not to a mailing list with 100 or more subscribers. Especially if you're attaching a big file; you may earn the ire of other list members as it will take them several minutes to download. If you feel that the file is important, you may want to upload it on the Web or to an FTP server for downloading; just post on the list the URL or the FTP site. Or you may ask from among list members who are interested and send the file/s privately.

First violation may be tolerated. Second violators will be warned. Violators who ignore the third warning will be removed from the list. For questions regarding the administration of the list, please direct your mails to webmaster@kababaihan.org.
